Earth Day is a global event celebrated on April 22 by more than 1 billion people in 192 countries every year. This year, April 22, 2022 marks the 52nd anniversary of Earth Day celebration which was founded in 1970.
Today, the theme for Earth Day 2022 is ‘Invest in Our Planet.’ According to earthday.org, this year’s theme focuses on accelerating solutions to combat our greatest threat, climate change, and to activate everyone – governments, citizens, and businesses – to do their part. Everyone accounted for, and everyone accountable.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres says, “The Earth is facing a triple planetary crisis: climate disruption, nature and biodiversity loss, and pollution and waste. This triple crisis is threatening the well-being and survival of millions of people around the world.”
Mr. Guterres advocates for our leaders to bring the ambition and action needed to address our triple planetary emergency.
