International Women’s Day (March 8) celebrates womanhood, their social, economic, cultural, political achievements and significant contributions of women to society. It is an event held around the world to commemorate the struggle for women’s rights and emphasizing the importance of gender equality.
Women have come a long way in their struggle for equality. This year, the theme for International Women’s Day, March 8, 2020 by the United Nations is, “I am Generation Equality: Realizing Women’s Rights.” The Generation Equality campaign is bringing together people of every gender, age, ethnicity, race, religion and country, to drive actions that will create the gender-equal world we all deserve.
The campaign theme for IWD 2020 is #EachforEqual. Equality is not a women’s issue, it is a business issue. An equal world is an enabled world.
It is time to speak out and stand up for women’s rights! We can empower each other and support women everywhere who are mobilizing for an equal future.
