International Women’s Day (March 8) celebrates womanhood, their social, economic, cultural, political achievements and significant contributions of women to society. It is an event held around the world to commemorate the struggle for women’s rights and emphasizing the importance of gender equality.
Women have come a long way in their struggle for equality. This year, the theme for International Women’s Day, 8 March, 2019 by the United Nations, is “Think equal, build smart, innovate for change”. The theme will focus on innovative ways in which we can advance gender equality and the empowerment of women, particularly in the areas of social protection systems, access to public services and sustainable infrastructure.
The campaign theme for IWD 2019 is #BalanceforBetter. Gender balance is not a women’s issue, it is an economic issue. A balanced world is a better world.
How to help build a more gender-balanced world?
– We will help forge a more gender balanced world.
– We will maintain a gender parity mindset.
– We will challenge stereotypes and bias.
– We will forge positive visibility of women.
– We will influence the beliefs and actions of others.
– We will celebrate women’s achievements.
May the glory and glamour of womanhood be abundantly bestowed upon you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the things you do.
Happy International Women’s Day 2019!
